'Twas the night before Closing, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
Well, almost... I'm in the basement with a roaring fire going. Mr. mouse is asleep on the airbed. We had a busy busy day today, but we got ALL of the errands we had on the list for today done. Good job, team! We:
- changed all of the addresses on our utilities, bills, etc.
- cancelled insurance
- re-confirmed close details with our agent
- picked up a couple of gifts and cards
- got a quote on fixing the bumper
- picked up firewood
- ate lunch
- forwarded our mail
- hit the bank
- picked up dry cleaning
- picked up our Christmas ornament for the year (better late than never)
- picked up contacts
- un-assembled and reassembled some shelving
- moved some stuff to our neighbors for storage until this weekend
- swept the garage and tossed some stuff
- met with our neighbors for pizza and wine
- transferred two tables over to my neighbors' place
- made a fire to enjoy the rest of the evening...
Tomorrow will be a hectic day, we have a couple of errands left to run. And, it'll be an emotional day. I'll miss the house here. It was a good home. And, with all of the work we did to it, it's in pretty much perfect condition. Seeing it empty, it reminds me of when we first moved in... brings a smile to my face... we were SO excited and happy to have gotten the place, it immediately felt like home. The basement was our favorite spot, we loved the built-ins, the fireplace and the newness of it. I spent a lot of my time down here, watching TV, talking to Mr. mouse, sleeping. It was my morning spot and my after work spot.
And, there's the brand new kitchen - with the built-in sink and all the extra counter space. And, the bathroom we re-did, with the new vanity, the tile my friend helped me pick out, the awesome tile job Brandon did with the diagonal tile and the clever spliced border... And, the new garage door and front door. And, the two bedrooms we rediscovered in staging the house... And, once all the furniture came up from the prior house, having it around felt like home. The four years here went so quickly. Time of reflection are good. They make you grow and mature.
For now, just enjoying the quiet time by the fire. Will write more in the morning.
Cheers!
mouse
